FastModel Sports - FastScout
FastScout is a suite of products on the web, iOS and Android that helps teams create and view scouting reports for themselves and for opponent teams. All 26 NBA teams, over 95% of NCAA Division I, II, III teams, and thousands of high school and club teams use FastScout to develop game plans and to view individual player and team statistics.
The first task was to implement the new identity and design system across entire product on both the web and mobile platforms. The next step was to start designing and implementing new features for our customers–such as shot charts and new advanced stats in scouting reports. We worked closely with our product team as well as our customers (we maintained close relationships with high profile NBA and NCAA coaches) to plan out and design features.
During the development process, we would work with the product team and our customers to identify problems, pain points, and brainstorm new ideas that aimed to alleviate those issues. For example, we identified certain advanced statistics (i.e. shot charts and advanced statistics) that were used in the industry but didn’t provide in our products, so we worked with data partners and developers to offer those in FastScout.
Dashboard
At the center of FastScout is the dashboard, which is completely customizable by the team or institution. Modules can be added to show shot charts, box scores, advanced statistics, etc. The dashboard is custom per user and is synchronized across the web and mobile platforms.
Playbook
By leveraging FastDraw – FastModel Sports’ play diagramming product – we built out a feature to import a team’s playbook into the FastScout product. For this feature, we successfully deployed the master-detail list-view layout designed and developed in the FastModel design system.
